DIY Iced Coffee: Summer Sans the Heat
As the caffeine panda here at The Girls’ Room, it doesn’t matter when and what season we’re in, I have got to have coffee at least a couple of days in a week. So whenever the weather’s too hot for my regular Joe, I opt for the colder version.
Especially now that the heat is indescribably searing (hot potato!), iced coffee will always be a better choice. But at the rate ice...

Illustrator Profile: RJ Santos
I met RJ from a film org we joined at the same time about two years ago, and I’ve come to follow his works, both as a Clothing Tech student and as a fashion illustrator. When sketching, he works with music in the background, always. For him, sketching relieves stress, even if it meant staying up at night til before the sun rises, and even if he can’t finish what he started - which he...

Anteroom Sessions Two | Punchdrunk Panda x Heima
In partnership with Punchdrunk Panda and Heima, the long-awaited Anteroom Sessions Two was a huge success! These sessions are similar to bazaars with all sorts of booths from apparel, shoes, milk teas and cupcakes! And we shouldn’t forget the awesome list of local bands that performed! Although the weather was a bit depressing, many still stayed all throughout the event!

A Different Brew with Moonleaf Tea Shop
They’ve trended nationwide on Twitter (twice!), and they’ve been opening branches like mushrooms all over the biggest metros in the country, faster than any multinational food chains can go, at least recently in Manila.

We’re crazy about ‘em, and we’re always getting the good vibes whenever we grab a cup of their authentic Taiwanese brews....

ELEVATE!
Shoes can actually be one of the most critical elements of an outfit; it can make or break your outfit, and I learned this the hard way. I used to care less about shoes! I can go to school everyday wearing the same pair of flats. I used to go to debut parties borrowing shoes from my sister or from my mom without even thinking if these would match my dresses!
I have slowly developed an attachment...

One on One: Margaret Morales (Illustrator)
Maggie is an (almost) graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts. She was awarded Best in Illustration for her undergraduate thesis last March 24, 2012 at the Opening of Out of the Orange (Exhibit).
1. Tell us something about yourself as an illustrator. How did you develop your style? Who are/what styles are your idols?
Hi, my name is Margaret Frances Morales. For short...

Bake a Banana Cake!
Today like any other day, I wanted to do something different. My mom approached me and said she wants banana cake when she arrives and hands me Sharon’s Banana Cake Mix Flour. Amazingly, it was pretty easy. It doesn’t require a whole lot of ingredients nor time.
Here’s how you do it! (I based it on the recipe included)
** Preheat your oven already to 190 degrees Celsius! :)

Cheap and Quick Fixes
If you think organizing needs major spending, think again! A haven for storage items, for me, is a store called “Japan Home Center.” Not only are there so many to choose from but they’re really affordable! P66 per piece in fact! :)
Socks
Instead of rummaging and looking for your favorite socks everywhere, organize them according to use. In this case, I placed all the...

Hungry for TEEnagegraphy
Statement shirts are often understated.
Because statement shirts have been around for a while, and very corny ones have been coming out, we often overlook these shirts, and roll our eyes at the poorly-written copy on the fabric.
I believe we should see these shirts as thought-invoking, and a symbol of our self-expression.
Enter TEEnagegraphy. They’re very new to the online tee...

5 Reasons Why You Should Visit Cafe Sabel
5. It’s in the BenCab Museum in - where else? Baguio!

Don't Miss a Thing About: Soul Sister Clothing
Soul Sister might have hit you like a Train (did you see what I did there?) when they first came out, as it did me. Two cute girls who happen to own the online shop also model the pieces they sell. They’re both from DLSU-Manila, and cheerleaders none the less!
I had a correspondence with Anya a few weeks back. I asked her about the shop, and how they started. I’ve been hung up with...
